Job description

Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.
Our China Export Advertising strategy is a long-term bet to help ambitious Chinese brands become global brands. By combining Netflix’s premium entertainment, global reach, and advertising capabilities, we have an opportunity to help Chinese advertisers build relevance with audiences around the world and deliver measurable business outcomes.
We’re seeking a Head of Advertising Sales, China Export to build and lead this business—developing the market, deepening relationships with China’s most ambitious advertisers and brands with global ambitions, and creating the operating model required to connect decision-making in China with execution across Netflix markets around the world.
About the Role
As the Head of Advertising Sales for China Export, you will own the strategy and commercial development of Netflix’s China Export advertising business. This is a builder role: you will define where we play and how we win, establish the relationships and capabilities required to grow the market, and create repeatable ways of working that allow the business to scale.
The role sits at the intersection of China and Netflix’s global advertising organization. Success will require navigating complex client and agency ecosystems, leading across functions and geographies, and bringing teams from APAC, EMEA, and the Americas together around a shared strategy for Chinese advertisers.
You will be based in Singapore and report to the APAC Head of Advertising.
Key Responsibilities
• Build and execute the China Export advertising strategy, identifying where Netflix has the greatest opportunity to help Chinese brands grow globally and translating that opportunity into a clear commercial plan.
• Own and deliver revenue goals, developing long-term partnerships with China-based advertisers, agencies, and holding companies focused on international growth.
• Establish a disciplined approach to prioritization by identifying the clients, categories, markets, and partnerships where Netflix has the greatest right to win and concentrating resources on the highest-value opportunities.
• Develop the China Export playbook, working across Netflix teams to establish scalable approaches to product, measurement, creative, and campaign execution that meet the needs of Chinese advertisers operating across global markets.
• Educate and develop the market, using insights, case studies, and thought leadership to build understanding of Netflix’s value proposition and create demand among Chinese advertisers and agencies.
• Lead agency engagement and enterprise sales efforts, navigating complex organizational structures and building relationships across multiple levels and stakeholders.
• Lead across Netflix’s global organization to align Sales, Product, Measurement, Operations, Marketing, and Creative teams around China Export priorities, ensuring clear ownership and effective execution across markets.
• Be the voice of the customer, translating advertiser and agency needs into insights that inform Netflix’s product, measurement, and operational roadmap.
• Build and lead a high-performing China Export team, develop talent, and evolve the organization and operating model as the business scales.
What We’re Looking For
• Extensive experience in digital and/or international advertising, with meaningful exposure to export marketing, global brand building, performance marketing, or cross-border business development.
• Deep understanding of the China advertising ecosystem and the ambitions and challenges of Chinese companies expanding internationally. Fluency in both Mandarin and English is required.
• Demonstrated experience building a new business, market, or commercial capability from an early stage, including defining strategy, establishing operating mechanisms, prioritizing resources, and scaling what works.
• Demonstrated experience originating commercial opportunities in one market and mobilizing teams across multiple international markets to execute and scale it, creating alignment across functions and geographies through influence rather than formal authority.
• Strong relationships and credibility across the China advertising ecosystem, including advertisers, holding companies, and China-based performance and export-focused agencies.
• Experience working with performance-oriented advertisers and expanding the conversation to brand building, translating business and growth objectives into premium brand and video strategies.
• Excellent strategic thinking, storytelling, and commercial judgment, with the ability to translate a long-term vision into clear priorities and action.
• Strong people leadership, with demonstrated ability to attract, develop, and lead high-performing commercial talent.
• Comfort with ambiguity, experimentation, and iteration, with the judgment to balance near-term commercial opportunities against the long-term development of the business.
• Strong cross-cultural fluency and the ability to operate effectively in a global, highly matrixed environment.
• Curiosity about entertainment, culture, and the role Netflix can play in helping brands connect with audiences around the world.
• Interest in our unique culture ( read our culture memo to learn more).
Inclusion is a Netflix value and we strive to host a meaningful interview experience for all candidates. If you want an accommodation/adjustment for a disability or any other reason during the hiring process, please send a request to your recruiting partner.
