• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of professional experience in product management, with a focus on consumer-facing mobile or cloud applications.
• 7 years of experience leading and growing product management teams.
• Experience managing stakeholder environments, including Engineering, UX, Privacy, and Legal.
Preferred qualifications:
• MBA or Master's degree in Computer Science with a focus on Artificial Intelligence or Human-Computer Interaction.
• Experience implementing data-driven frameworks for user retention, storage monetization, and ecosystem health.
• Ability to influence C-suite stakeholders and cross-functional partners in marketing, finance, and business development.
• Deep expertise in AI/ML product development, specifically regarding computer vision, generative media, or personalized recommendation systems.
• Visionary leadership style with a passion for storytelling and a commitment to maintaining user trust and data privacy.
About the job
As the Director of Product Management for Google Photos, you will be the primary leader responsible for the product vision, strategy, and execution of one of Google’s most beloved consumer products. In this role, you will oversee the transformation of Google Photos into an AI-first intelligence hub for personal memories. You are a product leader capable of managing high-scale consumer applications while navigating the complexities of privacy, machine learning, and cross-platform integration. This role requires a visionary who can orchestrate the next generation of “helpful” experiences—leveraging Gemini and advanced generative AI—across Android, iOS, and the web. You will lead a high-performing organization of product managers to deliver features that drive deep user engagement, subscription growth, and long-term brand loyalty.
Google Photos is a photo sharing and storage service developed by Google. Photos is one of the most sought after products at Google and is looking for both client-side (web and mobile), with server-side (search, storage, serving) and machine intelligence (learning, computer vision) Software Engineers. We are dedicated to making Google experiences centered around the user.
Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $281000 - $391000 (USD) + 30% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary visionary for Google Photos, defining the strategic roadmap for AI-native features like Magic Editor, Memories, and intelligent search while partnering with infrastructure and Research teams to ensure backend systems are scalable, efficient, and reliable.
• Lead senior cross-functional influence efforts to ensure Photos is deeply integrated across the Google ecosystem, including Pixel, Android, and Gemini.
• Design and manage product experiments to optimize the end-to-end user journey, from initial capture to long-term preservation and sharing.
• Build and scale robust reporting infrastructure to monitor high-signal KPIs related to library health, feature adoption, and user sentiment, implementing comprehensive user feedback loops and privacy-first research mechanisms to ensure the product evolves alongside changing market trends.
• Provide high-level mentorship and career development guidance to cohort of PM leaders, fostering a culture of technical excellence and user empathy.
