Job description

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of experience managing user experience teams, setting roadmap and direction.
• 10 years of experience in a leadership role interfacing with senior executives.
• Experience defining technical strategy and building a team.
Preferred qualifications:
• Automotive industry experience defining or delivering an In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) system or IVI component.
• Experience leading a team that has shipped an Android consumer product, or significantly contributed technically to that product, ideally in automotive.
• Experience in cross-team collaboration and working in a multi-disciplinary team.

As the Director of User Experience for Android Auto will serve as a leader on the Android Auto team and will be responsible for delivering and influencing an end-user experience across all partners with OEMs as well as internal stakeholders. The role leads teams of designers, technical writers, and UX researchers.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $275000 - $382000 (USD) + 30% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities
• Define and deliver the multi-year UX strategy and product vision for high-quality, compatible, and updateable Android In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) systems, applying thought leadership to solve complex, multi-dimensional business problems.
• Deliver all Partner programs with automotive OEMs. Build and nurture trusted, collaborative relationships with external partner executives, business development, and internal cross-functional leaders to drive strategic business goals and resolve escalations.
• Build and manage a global, multi-disciplinary team of UX designers, technical writers, and researchers. Mentor, coach, and grow leaders within the organization while cultivating a culture of continuous improvement and craft excellence.
• Advocate for AI product integration and lead AI adoption across the UX organization. Integrate AI workflows to augment the design process and drive organizational velocity, while doubling down on human-centered value and creative problem-solving.
