About the job
As the Engineering Director for the Geo Imagery organization, you will own the end-to-end platform that captures, processes, publishes, and serves geospatial imagery from Street View cars to satellites, as well as the core perception systems that help Google Maps "understand" what it sees and present immersive 3D photoreal experiences to billions of users.
In this role, you will manage a highly specialized engineering organization of full-time employees, spanning perception, hardware, exa-scale data processing and serving, and photoreal 3D modeling. You will partner tightly in a "four-in-a-box" model with product managers, technical program managers, and operations leads to ensure that Geo's visual assets are continuously refreshed and optimized to power immersive user experiences, B2B enterprise services, and Google's broader Gemini AI training needs. Furthermore, you will serve as a crucial site leader for our Boulder (BLD) and Mountain View (MTV) teams, driving innovation in areas like photoreal 3D products, sensor hardware systems, global sensor acquisition, and generative AI world understanding.
The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.
The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites.
