Job description

Minimum qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
• 7 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 5 years with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
Preferred qualifications:
• MBA or MSA degree.
• Experience managing project planning, status reporting, timeline estimation, issue tracking, meeting facilitation, and project documentation.
• Ability to propose next steps and roadblock solutions and anticipate questions and issues early, manage time, and follow work plans.
• Ability to have a collaborative style and work with cross-functional and international teams.
• Ability to have strong attention to detail, organizational skills and focus on continuous improvement.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to communicate effectively with executive management.
About the job
The Google Deal and Spend Governance Team helps Google to manage commercial agreement and spend governance and the universe of risks associated with these commitments. Working closely with partners and leadership across Google's Controllership, Finance, Sales, Product, Legal, and Marketing teams, you will ensure that the policies and processes used for Google's commitments to external partners are effective and efficient, that riskiest and most costly commitments have executive cross-functional leadership support, and that Google is managing risk smartly across the business. In doing so, you will regularly engage Google’s most executive leadership to ensure they have the visibility and information needed to make good decisions. At the same time, you will maintain close connections with global teammates working to keep Google’s overall control environment strong.

US: $128000 - $187000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities
• Design and govern cross-functional spend workflows for real estate and infrastructure commitments, collaborating across Finance, Legal, and Product to enforce sound compliance.
• Influence executive leadership to address control framework gaps and develop scalable governance solutions.
• Identify and implement scalable process improvements, automating manual workflows and eliminating bespoke systems.
• Author, vet, and roll out cross-functional spend policies, leading targeted training for negotiation and commitment teams.
• Partner with functional stakeholders to test, optimize, and enforce spend authorization controls across contracting platforms, leveraging creative data metrics to drive executive decision-making.
