Senior Manager, Legal Innovation & Operations (Spend & Billing)
Job description
Role Purpose:
Reporting to the Director, Legal Innovation & Operations, Vendor & Cost Management, the Senior Manager owns the day-to-day operation of the Legal Department's e-billing, invoice, rate, accrual, outside counsel onboarding, and vendor-management processes and turns legal spend data into accurate, decision-ready reporting. The role partners with attorneys, outside counsel, Finance, and Procurement to keep legal spend visible, compliant, and well controlled.
Here you can :
• Own the business administration and configuration of the Legal Department’s e-billing and matter management platform, including matter, firm, supplier, timekeeper, and rate structures, user access models, workflow design, validation logic, and system rules.
• Manage the invoice lifecycle from intake through payment, reviewing invoices against Outside Counsel Guidelines, approved rates, matter information, and budgets, and resolving exceptions with law firms, attorneys, Finance, and Accounts Payable.
• Identify and document potential billing-compliance issues, including rate discrepancies, duplicate charges, prohibited or non-billable charges, and apparent deviations from approved staffing or billing arrangements; resolve routine issues with the firm or provider through completion and escalate material or recurring exceptions to the Director.
• Lead the implementation and ongoing operation of AI-assisted invoice review and spend analytics, including configuration, evaluation criteria, human review controls, and measurement of results, and inform tool selection with operational testing and data.
• Run the recurring accrual-collection process with outside counsel and legal service providers, review submissions for completeness and consistency, and reconcile accrual data with Finance.
• Prepare recurring spend reports, billing-compliance metrics, and validated data inputs supporting law firm and provider scorecards, and quality-check source data before it is incorporated into leadership reporting.
• Analyze spend by legal group, firm, matter, and other established categories, and surface variances, unusual transactions, data gaps, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Coordinate supplier and system setup with Finance, Procurement and Accounts Payable, and maintain accurate firm, provider, engagement, vendor, and matter records and the Legal Department's outside counsel and vendor register.
• Serve as the primary operational contact for law firms and vendors on billing requirements, invoice status, e-billing procedures, and onboarding requirements, and provide guidance to internal users on legal spend and vendor processes.
Qualifications
Here you'll need :
• 8+ years of experience in legal spend management, e-billing, or finance and procurement systems, including administering and implementing complex, large-scale spend, billing, and vendor management solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, operations, data analytics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new legal, financial, and analytics technologies.
• A solid understanding of legal spend processes, including budgeting, forecasting, accrual management, billing compliance, invoice reconciliation and consolidated spend reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to organize, validate, reconcile, and analyze financial and operational data.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills, and the ability to handle confidential legal, financial, and commercial information appropriately.
What we'll look for :
• Experience with TyMetrix 360 or a comparable legal e-billing and matter-management platform.
• Familiarity with SAP or a comparable ERP in a functional capacity, and with accounts payable, procurement, and supplier master integration
• Solid service orientation and the ability to work effectively with attorneys, senior leaders, outside counsel, vendors, and cross-functional partners.
Hybrid : This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

Salary range: $110,000 to $140,000 annually (bonus eligible).
