Software Engineer II, Full Stack
Job description
In most instances, this position requires in-person interviews as part of the hiring process. Minimum qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
• 1 year of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• 1 year of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, GO, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
Preferred qualifications:
• Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Experience in backend coding languages such as GOLang, Rust, or Java.
• Experience working in a cross-functional team with PM, UX, UXR, gTech, and business development.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.
• Experience in ML model coding languages (e.g., Python).
• Experience in cross-functional collaboration, data analysis, and full-stack development.

Responsibilities
• Develop, test, and maintain backend pipelines and APIs in C++ and Java supporting the travel impact model.
• Build and refine responsive web frontends and UI features using TypeScript, JavaScript, and modern web frameworks and build, evaluate, and launch consumer-facing sustainability features and integrations across AI Overviews (AIO) and AI Mode (AIM).
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Product, Program Management, and domain advisory committees to deliver sustainability features across Search and AI platforms.
• Analyze datasets and model outputs using SQL and Python/Pandas to validate data quality and track system performance and integrate AI-assisted developer workflows to improve personal engineering velocity and code quality.
• Discuss your knowledge and use of AI tools during the hiring process.
