Job description
Minimum qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
• 1 year of experience with data structures and algorithms.
Preferred qualifications:
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in software development with C++, C#, Java, or Rust.
• Familiarity with game development, game engine runtimes (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine), or graphics Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) (e.g., Vulkan, OpenGL ES).
• Familiarity with performance profiling and tracing tools (e.g., Perfetto, GPU counters, RenderDoc, Linux perf).
• Interest in learning mobile graphics pipelines, frame scheduling (e.g., SurfaceFlinger, FrameTimeline), and native memory management.
• Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity to investigate complex, multi-threaded native software systems.

Responsibilities
• Capture and analyze deep performance traces (e.g., Perfetto, Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) profilers) to diagnose frame pacing anomalies, memory pressure, and thermal throttling in top mobile games.
• Develop isolated reproduction benchmarks and automated profiling test harnesses for complex game engine workloads.
• Prototype and implement optimizations in native game engine runtimes (e.g., Unity, Unreal) and Android platform subsystems under executive technical guidance.
• Partner with Android telemetry and graphics teams to integrate new performance metrics and validate field improvements. Author diagnostic documentation and reproduction playbooks to assist game studios and engine maintainers in debugging performance issues.
