Job description
Minimum qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures and algorithms.
• 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
• Experience with cross-functional collaboration and decision-making with multiple stakeholder groups.
Preferred qualifications:
• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• Experience in storage systems, distributed systems architecture, data replication, and disaster recovery technologies.
• Experience programming in C/C++.

Google Cloud Filestore is a managed file storage service for applications that require a shared filesystem through a network interface (e.g., NFS) and Enterprise-grade feature set (e.g., backups, snapshots).

Responsibilities
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of experienced engineers and Tech Leads.
• Drive the technical direction, roadmap and detailed planning along with the engineering manager.
• Design and architect scalable, resilient, and performant distributed filesystem backend for Filestore.
• Make key decisions regarding technology choices, system design, and trade-offs.
• Collaborate and work closely with product managers, SREs, and other Engineering teams within File-solutions, Storage and Google Cloud to align technical strategy with product goals.
