Job description

The Senior Vice President, Global Communications serves as a strategic advisor to Universal Film leadership and is responsible for shaping and advancing the company's corporate narrative, reputation, and executive visibility across a rapidly evolving media and entertainment landscape.
This leader will report to the EVP of Universal Film Communications and work closely with the EVP of Universal Entertainment Communications to help define how the Film Studio communicates through moments of growth, transformation, innovation, and change. They will anticipate emerging opportunities and risks, translate business priorities into compelling narratives, and influence stakeholders across the enterprise to drive alignment and impact.
Success in this role requires a leader who sees around corners, thinks beyond individual functions, and balances long-term reputation building with decisive execution. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision and enterprise thinking, operational excellence and accountability, exceptional talent leadership and collaboration, and the judgment, authenticity, and resilience required to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
Strategic Communications Leadership
• Shape and execute a comprehensive communications strategy that advances Universal Film's business priorities, reputation, and long-term growth objectives.
• Anticipate industry, audience, reputational, innovation, and stakeholder trends and translate insights into proactive communications strategies.
• Champion an enterprise mindset by identifying opportunities to strengthen Universal Film's connection to broader NBCUniversal narratives.
• Position Universal Film leaders as influential voices across entertainment, media, business, and culture through thought leadership and executive visibility initiatives.
Communications Execution & Business Impact
• Lead all global media relations activities, including major corporate announcements, box office reporting, transactional communications, executive communications, dating and crisis management.
• Serve as a trusted advisor during high-profile reputational issues, providing strategic counsel and clear recommendations to senior leadership.
• Develop and implement communications strategies that drive measurable business outcomes and enhance organizational reputation.
• Oversee the development of key communications materials including presentations, executive messaging, fact sheets, town halls, and leadership events.
• Lead communications support for major industry events, announcements, and executive engagements.
Leadership, Collaboration & Influence
• Build strong partnerships across production, development, distribution, marketing, franchise management, People Experience, and other NBCUniversal stakeholders to drive alignment and shared outcomes.
• Coach and develop a high-performing team and create an environment where people do their best work.
• Influence senior leaders across a complex matrixed organization, aligning diverse stakeholders around shared communications objectives.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 15 years of communications experience in the media and entertainment field.

• Proven ability to shape enterprise-level communications strategies that advance business objectives and strengthen organizational reputation.
• Demonstrated success influencing senior executives and stakeholders across highly matrixed organizations.
• Strong strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate emerging trends, identify opportunities, and navigate complex challenges.
• Track record of building, leading, and developing high-performing teams and future leaders.
• Exceptional executive presence, judgment, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to balance long-term strategic priorities with urgent business needs.

• Established relationships across the entertainment, business, and trade media landscape.
• Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other applications.
• Bachelor’s degree; business, communications or journalism discipline preferred.
Additional Requirements:
• Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

Salary range: $260,000 – $320,000 bonus and long-term incentive eligible.
